"The Games"
After being inundated with broadcast graphics promoting
the Olympic Summer Games in Atlanta I decided to throw together a quick mock-promo
with that as the theme. It seemed like a good subject to hone my metallic materials
skills, as well as get a chance to become familiar with the Yost Group's Flame
IPAS. The camera rides a path along the blue ring surface then pulls away, flying
backwards directly through the torch flame as all the elements fall into place.
All
of the objects in the scene were simple lofts, either text extrusions or surf
rev's for the torch and rings. The only real challenges this project presented
were getting nice metallic materials and tweaking the torch flames to look just
right. It was also a nice learning experience in how to get fluid camera movements
and create an interesting path for the viewer to follow.
