"Lego Jeep"
When I was growing up my favorite toys by far were
Legos. I would play with them, literally, for days. I built everything I could
imagine, and I even drew up plans for my favorite creations on graph paper so
I could rebuild them later. I wrote little graphics apps on my Commodore 64
where you could move Lego blocks around and assemble things. I consider this
project to be the way an adult would play with Legos.
This
is one of my most ambitious projects, not because of video compositing, or IPAS
manipulation, to date it has none of that. It was the amount of detail that
made this model such a monster. Every part of every block has been recreated,
to scale, in exacting detail. Even the little dots on the blocks have the "LEGO" logo on them where
applicable. The jeep is from Lego's Technic series, so it is as intricate as
Legos get. It was a joy and a challenge to see the precise geometry of these
toys come together piece by piece, just as a child would have.
